Significance of Lakshmi Jayanti:   Lakshmi Jayanti is the birth anniversary of  Goddess Lakshmi. Goddess Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity.  It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi was born on Phalguna Purnima during the great churning of the milky ocean, which is popularly known as Samudra Manthanam.

Phalguna Purnima mostly coincides with Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra.  Hence, the Uttara Phalguni Nakshatra falls on Poornima is celebrated as Lakshmi Jayanti.  The day of Lakshmi Jayanti is significant to appease the Goddess of wealth and prosperity.

Perform Lakshmi Puja, Homam, Archana & Sahasranama Archana.

On this day it is believed that most divine marriages took place. The marriage of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva, Goddess Deivayanai and Lord Murugan, Goddess Sita and Lord Rama was conducted on Panguni Uthiram day.
As Sri Deivayanai married Lord Subramanya on this day, it is an important festival for Lord Subramanya devotees. . It is believed that Goddess Parvati in the form of Gowri married Lord Shiva in Kanchipuram and because of this belief this day is also celebrated as Gowri Kalyanam day.
